How do I register my son for a sport? All registrations are completed online via the “Registrations” tab on our Sporty website. We use specific forms for different codes and levels (Junior, Senior, Intermediate).
When do sports registrations open and close? Registration dates vary by season. Generally, Winter sports register in Term 1; Term 4 Summer sports in Term 3 and Term 1 Summer sports in Term 4. Keep an eye on the “Sports Calendar” and school Daily Notices for specific deadlines.
What are the sports fees, and what do they cover? Fees vary by sport and level. They typically cover affiliation fees, ground/court hire, and basic equipment. High-performance or premier teams may have additional costs for specialized coaching or travel.
Can we set up a payment plan for sports fees? Yes. If you require a payment plan, please contact the Finance Manager (jlis@rosmini.school.nz) before completing the registration form.
How can I help with Rosmini Sport? We are always looking for volunteer coaches, managers, and officials. Please visit the "Want to Coach?" page or email the Sports Office (sports@rosmini.school.nz) if you can assist.
Year 7 & 8 (Intermediate) Sport
How does sport differ for Intermediate students compared to the College? Intermediate sport focuses on participation and skill development. Much of the competition is delivered through "Zone Days" - one-day tournaments held during school hours, rather than weekly evening/weekend fixtures. The exception is Basketball, Touch and Water Polo which have weekly competitions for Y7&8 students.
What are "Zone Days"? These are North Harbour regional tournaments where Year 7 & 8 students represent Rosmini in sports like Tag, Swimming, Football, and Rugby. Selection is usually based on interest and trials held shortly before the event.
Does my son play for the school or a club in Year 7 & 8? For Basketball, Water Polo, and Touch, Rosmini enters teams into weekly school competitions. For Rugby, Football, and Cricket, students typically play for their local community clubs, though they still represent Rosmini at Zone Days.
What is the AIMS Games, and how can my son participate? The AIMS Games is a national tournament held in Tauranga each September. Rosmini takes teams and individuals across various codes. "Expressions of Interest" usually open in Term 1, with trials in Term 2.
Uniforms & Equipment
Do we buy or borrow sports uniforms? This varies depending on the sport and level. e.g., Rugby players buy shorts and socks, but are loaned jerseys. Premier basketball players buy custom full uniforms, but Intermediate basketball players are loaned a singlet and wear PE shorts. Many Y7-10 sports and individual sports will wear PE uniform.
Where do I buy the sports uniform? Some sports gear, including the PE uniform used for many junior sports, is purchased through our online supplier, Dynasty (https://www.dynastysport.co.nz/collections/rosmini-college). There are also pop-up stores temporarily set up pre-season for specific sports like Basketball.
Does my son need a specific uniform for Zone Days? Most Intermediate Zone Days require the standard Rosmini PE uniform (reversible shirt and shorts). Specific codes like Rugby or Football may require boots and mouthguards.
What happens if loaned sports gear is lost or damaged? Loaned uniforms must be returned at the end of the season. Unreturned or damaged items will be invoiced to the student’s account at the full replacement cost.
Can our team organise it's own sponsors and team wear? Yes, but all team sponsorships and apparel must be formally approved by the Sports Department before any orders are placed.
To maintain the school's brand standards, all playing and training gear must be sourced exclusively through our official school supplier (with the exception of swimwear). Independent sourcing of unapproved, low-quality garments is not permitted. Additionally, potential sponsors must be vetted to ensure there are no conflicts of interest with existing school partners.
Trials & Team Selection
How are teams selected? Trials are held for all team sports. Social teams are often made up of groups of friends; and many individual sports are open entry, meaning anyone can participate.
Does everyone who trials make a team? We aim to place all registered students into a team where numbers and coaching staff allow.
What if my son misses a trial? Please contact the Code Coordinator (found under the “Meet Our People” tab) as soon as possible if your son cannot attend a trial due to illness or injury. Where a sport has multiple trials, in many cases a missed trial can be taken into consideration for selections.
Communication
How do coaches and managers communicate with teams? Rosmini Sport predominantly uses the TeamReach App for team communications. Please note that this app is reserved for essential updates only, such as training and game schedules, cancellations, and urgent logistics. To ensure important messages don't get lost or bumped down, we kindly ask that parents refrain from using the chat for casual conversation or non-essential posts.
Where can I find draws and results? All weekly draws and results are linked under the “Draws & Results” tab on our website, connecting you directly to the relevant regional sports association (e.g., College Sport Auckland, NH Rugby, NH Basketball etc).
Who do I contact if I have a question about a specific sport? Most sports have a dedicated Code Coordinator. Their contact details can be found in the "Meet Our People" section or on the specific page for that sport. Otherwise, please direct general sports enquiries to the Sports Department (sports@rosmini.school.nz).
Can our team set up our own social media accounts? No team social media accounts may be created without explicit sign-off from the Sports Department.
If approved, the account must strictly adhere to the Rosmini Sport Brand Guidelines, including the correct and authorized use of the school logo. All content posted must be appropriate, positive, and reflect the values of Rosmini College. The Sports Department reserves the right to monitor these pages and request the removal of any unsuitable material.
Policies & Conduct
Is there a Code of Conduct for players and parents? Yes. By registering, students and parents agree to the Rosmini College Code of Conduct, which emphasizes sportsmanship, respect for officials, and representing the school with pride. The codes of conduct can be found in our "Important Documents" section of this website.
What is the refund policy if my son can no longer play? Registration fees are generally non-refundable once the season has commenced or teams have been entered, as costs are committed early. Please refer to the "Important Documents" section for the full policy.
